How do I delete a photo?

To delete a photo, you'll need to make sure it is no longer shared to either your profile or to your group(s) photo pages. To do this, go to profile > photos and click on the photo you want to delete. Under "Share this photo," uncheck all the boxes and press "Save."

As long as your photo is not shared to your profile or to the group, it will not be visible to other group members.

How do I share photos from a past event?

If you'd like to share photos of an event that has passed:

* Click "my calendar" and locate the event.
* Click on the event title and choose "view & share event photos" from the pop-up box.
* On the event page, click "photos" then click "share your photos."
* Choose the photos you'd like to share, either from your computer or from the photos you have on BigTent. Add any tags or captions you like.
* Click "Share photos."


These photos will be visible in the event album, and will be displayed under "Recent Event Albums" on the photos tab of your group.

BigTent allows groups to share photos and create photo albums for events. Members may post personal photos on their profile as well.

Who can see group photos?

All group members can see photos shared with the group. To see photos shared with your group, go to my groups > [your group] > photos. Then, click on a photo or choose to view photos in an event album. Event albums, if your group has any, will be listed on the right-hand side of the page.

To download a photo from BigTent and save it to your computer, locate the photo that you want to download and click on its thumbnail to view it. To the right of the photo, click the link "Download this image." You'll be prompted by your computer to open or save the image.


Who can post group photos?

Who can see my personal photos?

You can configure who sees your personal photos. Click on a particular photo and on the right-hand side of the page under "Share this photo" there are several checkboxes indicating where the photo is shared. Photos shared on your profile are visible to group members who navigate to your profile page. Photos shared with the group are visible on the group's photos tab. You can hide all your profile photos from your group's view by going to settings > profile privacy and de-selecting the box to share your "Photos and Flickr Photostream."

How do I add photos to my profile or share photos with my group?

To upload photos to your profile:

* Go to my bigtent > profile > photos.
* Choose "Upload photos," located in the pale green photo task bar.
* Under "Select photos" choose "My computer" and choose "Browse" to locate the photos you'd like to upload. You can upload a file up to 20MB, however, depending on your internet connection, bigger files might take much longer to process. Please note: Currently Bigtent only supports .jpg images. There is a bug preventing .png photos from being unloaded. Please instead only upload .jpg photos. We hope to fix this issue soon.
* Once you've chosen the photos to be uploaded, you can add captions and titles.
* Click "Done" when you are finished. You'll have a chance to preview thumbnails of your photos. Click "Upload" when you're ready.



You can edit the caption or title of your photo at any time. Just go to profile > photos. Click on the photo in question, then click on the title or the caption to edit. You can also add tags to your photo, which will help keep your photos organized. Photos added to your profile will be visible to group members who navigate to your profile by clicking on your screenname.



To share photos with your group:

* Go to my groups > [group name] > photos.
* Click "add group photos."
* Check the boxes to choose groups with which to share your photos. Then find your photos, either on your BigTent profile or on your computer.
* Add any tags you like.
* Choose to add any new photos to your profile too.
* Click "Share Photos."

Can I add attachments or photos to my forum posts?

You cannot add attachments or photos to your forum messages at this time. However, you have several options for sharing important files with your group:

* Share photos on BigTent. Just sign in and you'll be able to upload photos in a separate photo sharing area. All members can share photos.

* Post photos of buy/sell/trade items in classifieds. Selling a used TV, stroller, bookcase? Sign in, make a classifieds listing and add your photo(s). We have a separate classifieds area to help groups separate their group-wide discussion traffic from buy/sell/trade activity, which usually appeals to a smaller crowd. All members can post classifieds listings, as long as group admins have enabled the classifieds feature for their group.

* Upload files. If you have permissions to add files, you can upload files up to 20 MB apiece in your group's files area - a great place to share PDF copies of your newsletter, group bylaws, and more. Every stored file has a unique download URL so if you want to easily share a file with your group just download the file you just uploaded, copy the URL and share the URL with group members. Clicking on the URL link will instantly download the file.
